From Hari Nef to Dan Levy \u2014 here are some of the winning looks from fashion’s night out.<\/p>\n

For so many events, the red carpet is the hearty appetizer. It whets your appetite but serves largely as a kicking off point for some awards show where newsworthy things happen. For the Met Gala, however, the red carpet is the main dish for all intents and purposes. Yes, there\u2019s a dinner and program once the celebrities get inside, but no one is writing about that. Everyone wants to talk about what\u2019s \u201con theme,\u201d and if you ask me, what would have made Andre Leon Talley (God rest his soul) sigh an appreciative \u201cThat\u2019s how you do it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, the exhibit is \u201cSleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion,\u201d while the red carpet theme is \u201cThe Garden of Time.\u201d The theme is based on a short story in which a man must cut a crystalized flower a day to keep away impending doom, but in practice means a hell of a lot of florals \u2014\u00a0as well as a handful of archival looks (aka \u201cSleeping Beauties\u201d).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We would be remiss to not call out the way co-chair Zendaya and her image architect Law Roach did what needed to be done with two looks on the carpet: One was a Maison Margiela remake of a Christian Dior couture look from 1999 and the other was an actual Givenchy couture look from 1996. But for the purposes of our list tonight, let\u2019s talk about the LGBTQs!! Only!<\/span><\/p>\n
