{"id":1451386,"date":"2025-09-23T10:13:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T09:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gaytimes.com\/?p=1451386"},"modified":"2025-09-23T10:13:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T09:13:16","slug":"plainclothes-russell-tovey-reveals-favourite-on-screen-kiss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gaytimes.com\/culture\/plainclothes-russell-tovey-reveals-favourite-on-screen-kiss\/","title":{"rendered":"Russell Tovey names favourite co-star to kiss: \u201cWe had a very nice time\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Breaking queer news: Russell Tovey has revealed his favourite on-screen smooch.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest episode of <em>Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen<\/em>, the British actor was asked the question by a member of the audience (thank you to this anonymous person, from the entire LGBTQIA+ community).<\/p>\n<p>Tovey, who appeared alongside Tom Blyth, his co-star in the upcoming gay romance <em>Plainclothes<\/em>, responded: \u201cSo I can\u2019t say Tom?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Cohen noted that the duo \u201cdo pretty well\u201d in the film, Tovey praised Blyth as a \u201cbeautiful\u201d kisser with \u201cvery soft lips\u201d. He added: \u201cYeah, he\u2019s very, err\u2026 he looks after me,\u201d leaving Blyth blushing.<\/p>\n<p>Tovey also shared: \u201cI quite enjoyed kissing Jonathan Groff in <em>Looking<\/em>. We did a lot of kissing in <em>Looking<\/em>, and we had a very nice time on that. I\u2019ve been very lucky. I\u2019ve kissed a lot of very attractive people, all genders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TcxFakA7C3M?si=ROknBEocebA2xLNp\" width=\"695\" height=\"436\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Plainclothes<\/em> launched in the U.S on 19 September, and will receive a theatrical release in the UK on 3 October.<\/p>\n<p>Set in 1990s New York City, the film follows Lucas (Blyth), a working-class undercover officer who is tasked with entrapping and apprehending gay men, only to find himself attracted to his target Andrew (Tovey).<\/p>\n<p>Also starring Amy Forsyth, Christian Cooke, Maria Dizzia, John Bedford Lloyd, Gabe Fazio and Sam Asa Brownstein, the gay drama marks the feature-length directorial debut of Carmen Emmi, who also penned the screenplay.<\/p>\n<p><em>Plainclothes<\/em> premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, where it was met with positive reviews from critics.
