Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM Ball has finally hit London, giving the gays everything they want and need – and it couldn’t arrive at a bigger moment in her career.

Her acclaimed album MAYHEM has dominated the charts and earned widespread praise. Her Grammy-winning collaboration with Bruno Mars, ‘Die With A Smile,’ continues to break all-time records, while ‘Abracadabra’ still ranks as the most-streamed solo song by a female artist this year.

Gaga also headlined Coachella and drew an estimated 2.5 million attendees at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, making history as the largest free concert by a female artist. So, naturally, news of an accompanying tour was met with rapturous applause from fans.

The MAYHEM Ball, spanning 87 shows, stormed across the United States and Canada throughout July, August and September before landing in London on 29 September.

As 20,000 Little Monsters descended on the iconic O2 Arena for the first date of her four-night residency, Gaga took fans on a journey through some of her biggest hits – as well as deep cuts and fan-favourites from across her glittering 17-year career.

Audiences can expect everything from 2008’s ‘Just Dance’ to 2025’s ‘Abracadabra’ in an action-packed, 2.5-hour, 30-song, five-act spectacular that will keep you on your feet from start to finish. Bending genre and defying convention, Lady Gaga has continued to prove she is a master of her craft as a live performer.

As theatrical and visually sumptuous as ever, the show opened with Act I: Of Velvet and Vice. A short film saw both Mother Monster and the Mistress of Mayhem, each played with relish by Gaga herself, reading out their manifesto, the dark, swirling prologue declaring: “The chaos in your heart will never cease.” From that moment, we were plunged into a gothic fairytale rock opera.

Gaga emerged for ‘Bloody Mary’, clad in an Elizabethan-inspired gown that split open to reveal a cage of dancers within, before ‘Abracadabra’ drove the crowd wild. Hearing the future Grammy winning anthem transition into ‘Judas’ live is an experience few will forget. As if her soaring vocals weren’t enough, the superstar reminded us she can also play guitar with an electrifying rendition of ‘Garden of Eden’.

After that heart-pounding introduction, Act II: And She Fell into a Gothic Dream plunged the audience into a sandbox-turned-grave as Gaga belted out ‘Perfect Celebrity’, surrounded by dancing skeletons, before tearing through a rightfully extended version of ‘Disease’. At that point, I realised this might be the closest I’ll ever get to a rock concert (until Beyoncé drops Act III, of course…).

The show, as Lady Gaga has proven throughout her time in the spotlight, was truly a sanctuary for the LGBTQIA+ community. During her performance of ‘Paparazzi’, the singer donned a cape lit up in the colours of the Pride flag before diving into arguably her campest hits, ‘LoveGame’ and ‘Alejandro’.

Act III: The Beautiful Nightmare That Knows Her Name saw Gaga return to the darker aesthetic and deliciously maximalist tint that has come to define the MAYHEM era. ‘Killah’ was a standout here, Gaga’s bold delivery rattling the walls of the O2.

Then came the earlier-than-usual performance of ‘The Dead Dance’, one of the night’s many surprises, with Gaga’s Wednesday co-stars Emma Myers and Evie Templeton joining her onstage for a gloriously camp recreation of their Nevermore Venetian Gala dance. It was camp, spooky and utterly joyous.

The concert’s penultimate Act IV: Every Chessboard Has Two Queens delivered a tender change of pace, pivoting towards themes of community and identity, with the set melting into twinkling lights as Gaga took to the piano.

Before launching into ‘Shadow of a Man’, the visibly emotional songstress told the crowd: “My first big arena show was in the UK… thank you for believing in me then.” Reflecting on her almost 20-year career, she asked: “If I come back 20 years from now, will you come to the show?” before assuring teary-eyed fans that she’s here to stay: “I’m just gonna roll up with a keyboard and I’ll be playing on the street… I’ll be here no matter what!”

That reflective energy carried into a stunning performance of ‘Born This Way’. “You are so special, and so beautiful, in every way. And I bet you didn’t need me to tell you that, did you? You already knew!” Gaga told the crowd. Though the song has become synonymous with Pride parades and can sometimes feel overplayed, witnessing it live – surrounded by thousands of queer fans – was transcendent. I couldn’t help but think of my closeted 13-year-old self, who once found so much comfort and hope in it.

By now, you’ve likely seen it across your feed: Lady Gaga then gifted fans a moving piano performance of ‘Speechless’, her first live rendition since 2017 (and we don’t know why, the song was deservedly included on Billboard’s list of the 100 Best Deep Cuts by 21st Century Pop Stars), and its return did not disappoint.

@gaytimes We’re not crying, you are! Lady Gaga performed ‘Speechless’ for the first time since 2017 at the first London show of The MAYHEM Ball ❤️ #ladygaga #speechless #mayhem #gaga #concert ♬ original sound – GAY TIMES

By the time Finale: The Eternal Aria of the Monster Heart arrived, the O2 had screamed, danced, and wept – but the show wasn’t over yet. ‘Bad Romance’ ripped the roof off the arena, soaring into a jaw-dropping crescendo. If it didn’t look so ugly on the page, I’d write the rest of this review in all caps – it really was that incredible.

As the credits rolled and Gaga left the stage, fans had a brief moment to breathe before the screen lit up once more and a much more casual artist appeared. Backstage, with her makeup and wig off, wearing a beanie and sweatshirt, Gaga strutted back into the arena and closed the show with ‘How Bad Do U Want Me’. While social media may undersell this low-key finale, believe me: as tempting as it was to leave early to avoid the tube crush, this moment made staying worth it.

Samir Hussein/Getty Images for Live Nation

Did I cry? YES. Did I scream? YES. Was I on my feet the whole time? ABSOLUTELY. Who else is doing it like Gaga? Nobody. This wasn’t just another pop show – this was the pop show.

Seventeen years into her career, this feels both like a celebration of everything fans have come to love about Gaga and the beginning of a new peak in the Grammy winner’s already historic career. It’s also clear that she’s loving every second. Part concert, part performance art, The MAYHEM Ball is a resurrection, a reinvention, and a reminder that Lady Gaga is still at the very top of her game.

“A vision in venom”: Netflix has finally released the first image of Lady Gaga in the second season of Wednesday!

Shared on 1 September, just two days before the streamer drops the second half of season two, the image shows the pop icon as Rosaline Rotwood with the Addams Family’s iconic Thing perched on her shoulder.

Rotwood is set to be a “legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths” with Jenna Ortega’s title character.

Alongside flexing her acting chops, Gaga will also contribute music to the series with ‘The Dead Dance’, which is expected to tie directly into the narrative.

Released the same day as the new batch of episodes, the track will be accompanied by a music video, helmed by Wednesday creator and director Tim Burton.

At a Graveyard Gala event for season two on 27 August, Gaga told the crowd: “I am so excited to be here tonight. I’m taking a little break from the Mayhem Ball to say hello. I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two.

“Even just being a small part of the show. I loved working with Tim Burton, and Jenna and everyone here is so incredible. I’m also here to confirm that my song ‘The Dead Dance’ is coming out 3 September.”

According to Variety’s sources, ‘The Dead Dance’ was created by the same team behind Gaga’s acclaimed seventh studio album Mayhem, which features hits such as ‘Disease’, ‘Abracadabra’, ‘Vanish Into You’, and ‘Zomebieboy’.

Gaga’s highly anticipated role on Wednesday came about after an edit of the first season’s iconic dance sequence propelled her fan-favourite Born This Way track ‘Bloody Mary’ into the charts. She has since incorporated the horror anthem into her recent shows — including her headline set at Coachella 2025.

And, in May, Gaga delivered a Wednesday-themed performance at Netflix’s Tudum event, joined by Ortega and Thing for ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Zomebieboy’.

She recently kicked off her Mayhem Ball Tour, which began in the United States on 16 July 2025 and will conclude in Japan on 30 January 2026.

Monsters, unite: a new Lady Gaga banger is on the way!

On Monday (4 August), Variety confirmed that the pop icon will release the much-rumoured track ‘Dead Dance’ for the forthcoming second season of Netflix’s supernatural comedy series Wednesday.

According to two sources cited by the publication, the song and video will be released in September to coincide with the season’s second half, which will feature Gaga in a guest role as Rosaline Rotwood – “a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths” with the title character.

Rumours first began to swirl about a new Gaga track last month, when she was spotted with Wednesday director and executive producer Tim Burton on the Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco — one of Mexico’s most infamous haunted destinations, littered with hundreds of dismembered dolls.

Variety’s sources allege that ‘Dead Dance’ was created by the same team behind Gaga’s acclaimed seventh studio album, Mayhem.

At the Wednesday premiere in London (30 July), Burton confirmed his collaboration with Gaga, describing her as an “inspirational artist.”

He went on to compare his experience working with the Oscar winner to season two cast members, Joanna Lumley and Steve Buscemi, saying: “These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.”

Gaga’s much-anticipated role on Wednesday came to fruition after an edit of the first season’s iconic dance sequence propelled her fan-favourite Born This Way album track ‘Bloody Mary’ into the charts. She has since incorporated the horror anthem into her recent shows – including her headline set at Coachella 2025.

In May, Gaga delivered a Wednesday-themed performance at Netflix’s Tudum event, where she was joined by lead star Jenna Ortega and the Addams Family’s iconic disembodied hand, Thing, for her Mayhem anthems ‘Abracadabra’ and ‘Zombieboy’.

Upon release, Mayhem was met with universal critical acclaim – becoming the highest-rated album of Gaga’s career on Metacritic – and earned the star her highest solo debut on Spotify with ‘Abracadabra’.

Since its release in March, Little Monsters have urged Gaga to release a deluxe version with the CD and vinyl exclusives ‘Kill for Love’ and ‘Can’t Stop the High’. Now that we know ‘Dead Dance’ also exists, is the Mayhem (Deluxe) era upon us?

Wednesday season two premieres on 6 August on Netflix, with the second part to follow on 3 September. As we await more ‘Dead Dance’ news, revisit Gaga’s lauded Tudum performance below.

Lady Gaga is now just one award away from achieving the most coveted honour in entertainment: the EGOT.

On 20 May, the icon won a Sports Emmy for her pre-game performance at Super Bowl LIX, where she delivered a powerful rendition of her Top Gun: Maverick hit ‘Hold My Hand’. The performance served as a tribute to the victims of the 2025 New Orleans truck attack, the California wildfires and Hurricane Helene.

With her win, Gaga just needs to snatch a Tony Award to join an exclusive line-up of entertainers who have won an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), such as Audrey Hepburn, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Viola Davis and Whoopi Goldberg.

Gaga currently boasts 14 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award; the latter was for ‘Best Original Song’ for her A Star is Born classic ‘Shallow’.

The Sports Emmy is the latest highlight in a remarkable year for Gaga.

Earlier this year, Mother Monster released her most critically-acclaimed album to date with her seventh collection Mayhem, which earned the biggest debut of the year for a female on Spotify. Its second single ‘Abracadabra’, widely hailed as one of Gaga’s best, became her highest solo debut on the platform.

In a world trying to erase LGBTQIA+ stories, we keep writing them. Join our mission as shareholders in Gay Times and help us fight for your rights. Find out more at investors.gaytimes.com.

More impressive feats incoming: her Bruno Mars-assisted hit ‘Die With a Smile’ became the longest-running daily number one in Spotify history and earned the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Gaga also surpassed Ariana Grande to become the female artist with the most monthly Spotify listeners.

As of writing, she is currently the third most-listened to artist in the world with over 116 million, behind Bruno Mars and The Weeknd.

Finally, Gaga headlined Coachella on 11 and 18 April to widespread acclaim, and drew an estimated 2.1 million people to her free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, breaking records as the largest crowd ever for a female artist.

In March, the ‘Vanish Into You’ and ‘Killah’ genius was honoured with the Innovator Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Presented by Doechii, a self-described Little Monster, Gaga used her speech to highlight sexist and ageist standards in the music industry.

“Winning an award honoring my entire career at 38 years old is a hard thing to get my head around,” she said. “On the one hand, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever. On the other hand, I know I’m just getting started.

“Even though the world might consider a woman in her late 30s old for a pop star — which is insane — I promise that I’m just getting warmed up.”

That same month, Gaga announced that she will travel across North America, Europe and the UK later this year with The MAYHEM Ball Tour. It commences 16 July in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena, before travelling to cities such as Seattle, New York, Miami, Toronto, Chicago, London, Stockholm, Milan, Barcelona and Berlin.

Lorde has opened up about the creative process behind her fourth studio album, Virgin, revealing that a “reexamination of her gender expression” played a significant role in its formation.

In an interview with artist Martine Syms for Document Journal, the New Zealand singer shared that she has recently “come into my masculinity a bit more,” and that her new album is a “byproduct” of “fully coming into my body and feeling the fullness of my power.”

While discussing her guest performance with Charli XCX at Coachella, Syms observed that the duo resembled “two really strong, powerful people who are also both hot and talented and having fun, getting to be themselves in a way that probably wasn’t possible 20 years ago.”

Lorde credited ongoing progress in the music industry and popular culture, “where it feels like this room for your humanity or being yourself is a little bit more prized.”

Ahead of creating Virgin, Lorde said she “read a lot of queer writers,” and revealed that the album began to take shape after she wrote the lead single, ‘What Was That,’ which marked a “rebirth” of her artistry.

“I had come back from London to New York after this period of great turbulence in my personal life,” Lorde explained. “Becoming single, but also really facing my body stuff head-on, and starting to feel my gender broadening a little bit.

Photo: Thistle Brown

“Just being back in my house and feeling this big wave of grief. I just kept thinking, What was all of that? Whether it was my seven-year relationship or a pandemic or sacrificing my body to my career since I was 16 or 17.

“This feeling of, Oh, my God, so much has moved through me. And there’s so much mystery and pain. I just held the mic and sort of walked around the room and said it all. I didn’t write anything down, which was cool.”

In an email to fans unveiling the title and cover of Virgin—which features a blue-toned X-ray of a pelvis with a visible IUD—Lorde described the album as a reflection of her femininity. Among the words she used to characterise that femininity was “masc”.

“THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR. LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY. THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE,” she wrote.

“I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.”

Due for release 27 June, Virgin marks Lorde’s first full-length album since Solar Polar (2021), which delivered singles such as the title track, ‘Stoned at the Nail Salon’, ‘Fallen Fruit’ and ‘Mood Ring’.

Virgin‘s aforementioned lead single, ‘What Was That’, was met with overwhelming praise from fans and critics and debuted at number-one in her home country. Additionally, the electropop banger became her first chart-topper on US Spotify since her 2011 debut single ‘Royals’.

Here are all the celebs who have supported the trans community by wearing Conner Ives’ viral t-shirt.

Back in February, Ives closed out his 2025 autumn/winter show at London Fashion Week wearing a white t-shirt with the phrase “Protect The Dolls” displayed on the front.

The slogan is commonly used by members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies in support of trans women, who are affectionately known as the “dolls”.

When asked about his decision to wear the powerful shirt, Ives told GQ: “My autumn-winter ’25 show was a response to the times we find ourselves in. Rather than giving in and admitting defeat, I want to say something with my chest. It was a message that felt the most urgent.”

Over the last few months, the powerful t-shirt has made massive waves within the fashion and pop culture sphere, resulting in Ives selling the garment on his website to raise money for Trans Lifeline.

The “Protect The Dolls” shirt has also been embraced by an array of celebrities, with some even wearing the piece at big-name events and premieres.

One celeb who has worn the statement piece numerous times is The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal. The beloved talent and longtime LGBTQIA+ ally was photographed in the shirt while celebrating his 50th birthday.

Pascal also sported the top while attending the UK premiere of the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts.

Troye Sivan and Addison Rae also wore Ives’ shirt during their respective appearances in Charli XCX’s headline Coachella set.

Lastly, Tilda Swinton sported the iconic statement piece in a selfie which was post on Ives’ Instagram story.

On 15 April, Ives reflected on the shirt’s impact in a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing: “I never had any idea what this would turn into, what we would be able to do with the printing of a tee.

“Couldn’t be more proud of everyone that made this possible. The early adapters (Haider, Pedro, Troye) that made it a thing, the stylists that connected the dots (and bought the tees! No press loans here) and the hordes of people that have donated to @translifeline.

“Moments like these remind me why I do this! Clothes that become something bigger. Absolutely wild. Thank you all.”

The “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt has arrived at a time when trans people worldwide are facing increased scrutiny and attacks from politicians and conservative figures.

From the 47th president of the United States issuing anti-trans executive orders to the UK Supreme Court’s rulling excluding trans women from the legal definition of womanhood – the rights of trans people are being targeted and dismantled from every corner.

Lady Gaga has finally announced The MAYHEM Ball Tour!

On 26 March, the pop icon revealed that she will travel across North America, Europe and the UK later this year in support of her seventh studio album MAYHEM.

It will follow Gaga’s headlining sets at Coachella, stadium residencies in Mexico City and Singapore, as well as her landmark free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.

The MAYHEM Ball commences 16 July in Las Vegas a T-Mobile Arena, before travelling to cities such as Seattle, New York, Miami, Toronto, Chicago, London, Stockholm, Milan, Barcelona and Berlin.

“This is my first arena tour since 2018,” said Gaga. “There’s something electric about a stadium, and I love every moment of those shows. But with The MAYHEM Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience—something more intimate—closer, more connected—that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create.”

Tickets for the North American dates will be available on Monday 31 March with various presales, while the Artist Presale begins Wednesday 2 April (you can sign up here!). General on-sale kicks off on Thursday 3 April via LiveNation.

It’s a similar situation for select shows in Europe: Mastercard presale starts 31 March, while “additional presales run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale for all EU/UK dates beginning Thursday, April 3 at 12pm local time at ladygaga.com”.

Released earlier this month, MAYHEM made history as Gaga’s most acclaimed studio album to date with a rating of 84/100 on Metacritic.

Featuring the lauded singles ‘Disease’ and ‘Abracadabra’, as well as future hits ‘Killah’, ‘Zombieboy’ and ‘Shadow of a Man’ (we could honestly name the whole album), MAYHEM debuted at number-one in various territories – including the UK and U.S. – and was the biggest female debut of the year on Spotify.

The new era has been one for the herstory-books, with Mother hitting new peaks critically and commercially. Her Bruno Mars-assisted single ‘Die With A Smile’ has broken records as Spotify’s longest-running number-one, while ‘Abracadabra’ became her highest solo debut on the platform.

Additionally, Gaga surpassed her ‘Rain On Me’ collaborator Ariana Grande to become the female artist with the most monthly Spotify listeners.
