“DOLLS, DOLLS, DOLLS!”

Sabrina Carpenter transformed her 2025 VMAs performance into a fierce celebration of queerness, featuring drag icons and a rallying cry to protect trans lives.

On 7 September, Drag Race stars including Denali, Lexi Love, Laganja Estranja, Symone and Willam — alongside ballroom legends Honey Balenciaga and Malik Brehon — joined Carpenter for a performance of her disco-pop hit ‘Tears’.

After emerging from a sewage vent to open the song, she delivered pitch-perfect vocals, a fierce costume reveal and rain-filled choreography, before the stage flooded with entertainers holding signs that read “In Trust We Trust,” “Dolls Dolls Dolls,” “Love Each Other,” “Support Local Drag”, “Protect Trans Rights” and more.

It echoed the critically-acclaimed music video for ‘Tears’, a camp homage to The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo in full drag as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Following the performance, Logo TV and RuPaul’s Drag Race shared a joint Instagram post of the drag entertainers proudly displaying their signs backstage, praising Carpenter for “making a statement at the VMAs” and adding: “Protect the dolls. Defend drag. ALWAYS.”

Between advocating for trans rights in a volatile political climate and raising over a million dollars for mental health, animal welfare and LGBTQIA+ causes, Carpenter has firmly cemented her place as one of pop’s most powerful allies.

At the 2025 ceremony, Carpenter took home two major awards: Best Pop Artist and Best Album (Short n’ Sweet), while Vania Heymann and Tal Baltuch won Best Visual Effects for the ‘Manchild’ video.

Carpenter’s seventh album, Man’s Best Friend, featuring hits like ‘Manchild’ and ‘Tears’, is out now — watch her VMAs performance of ‘Tears’ below.

Colman Domingo’s iconic drag turn in Sabrina Carpenter’s new music video has the usual anti-LGBTQIA+ crowd fuming – and he couldn’t care less.

On 29 August, Carpenter unleashed full-blown queer mayhem with the music video for her glittering disco anthem ‘Tears’, serving up homages to various horror classics – most notably The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Playing Susan Sarandon’s heroine Janet, the Grammy winner arrives at a sinister house in the middle of nowhere, where she’s welcomed by Domingo’s deliciously camp Dr. Frank-N-Furter and a swarm of eccentric queer misfits.

While fans and critics largely showered the video with overwhelming acclaim, it was met with contempt from the conservative, heteronormative brigade that can’t seem to comprehend fun (so shocking!).

One disgruntled viewer on Twitter/X threw a strop, dismissing Domingo’s drag makeover as “bulls**t”. Domingo, however, brushed it off with peak nonchalance: “Calm down brother.”

“It’s a character. Like all the characters I play,” the Oscar responded. “Enjoy the video and the fun that it possesses. Dance it out! It ain’t that deep.”

Domingo then dropped RuPaul’s iconic mantra — “We’re all born naked and the rest is drag” — before adding, laughing emoji included: “Suits, t-shirts, dresses. All drag.”

The Euphoria star’s response was met with praise from fans, with comments ranging from “this is poetry!” to “everything you do is iconic they can’t handle it” and “speak on it, zaddy!”

Ahead of the video’s release, Domingo said it was “about to break the internet” – true – and shared the viral slogan in support of trans women: “Protect all the dolls.”

Carpenter later gushed over her experience filming with the actor, calling him “truly incomparable, magnetic and fantastic,” adding: “Wish we were still dancing in the street at 4am.”

Following its release, ‘Tears’ debuted at number-one on the Global Spotify chart with 9.29 million streams, becoming the biggest debut for a female artist this year.

Its accompanying album, Man’s Best Friend, is out now.

Sabrina Carpenter has unleashed queer mayhem with her Rocky Horror–inspired new video, featuring the legendary Colman Domingo in drag.

The second single from her seventh album Man’s Best Friend, ‘Tears’ is a glittering disco bop that, in classic Sabrina fashion, arrives with a cinematic visual that officially cements her status as *the* reigning pop video queen.

Directed by Bardia Zeinali, the video follows Carpenter as she arrives at a creepy house in the middle of nowhere and finds herself surrounded by quirky, queer misfits — led by none other than Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, serving full Dr. Frank-N-Furter fantasy.

The video unleashes a spectacle of drag queens and kings, chainsaw-wielding dolls, tallgrass pole dancing — and even a fierce dance break between Carpenter’s Janet-inspired heroine and Domingo.

In the finale, Carpenter discovers her heteronormative love interest has somehow survived, quipping, “It’s a thing, someone has to die in every video,” before finishing him off with a stiletto to the chest. Camp!

Before the video dropped, Domingo hyped fans on Twitter/X with, “About to break the internet. Tears. Protect all the Dolls.” He later wrote: “Didn’t see that coming did ya? Thank you Sabs for inviting me to truly play.”

Carpenter also took to Instagram to gush over the Euphoria icon, calling him “truly incomparable, magnetic and fantastic,” before adding: “Wish we were still dancing in the street at 4am.”

The ‘Tears’ video was met with overwhelming praise from fans – particularly LGBTQIA+ people – with feedback ranging from “two icons, one masterpiece!” to “best thing to happen to my eyes since Lasik.”

Over the past year, Carpenter has raised more than $1 million for LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health, and animal welfare — and now she’s gifted us with one of the gayest, campest videos pop has ever seen. Stream Man’s Best Friend now!

Now, it appears that Martin will be adding another incredible feat to his extensive list of achievements next month.

On 18 August, MTV announced that the 53-year-old would be receiving the very first Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Last weekend, pint-sized pop princess Sabrina Carpenter dazzled a 65,000-strong crowd at London’s BST Hyde Park, delivering not just one but two sold-out shows that cemented her status as one of the defining voices of the moment.

Despite 2025 marking the 10th anniversary of Sabrina’s debut album, the last 12 months have seen her career reach stratospheric heights, proving it really does take 10 years to become an “overnight success.”

Supported by a lineup of powerhouse women, including Amber Mark, Olivia Dean and Clairo, this show felt like a celebration of everything Carpenter has been working towards.

Sabrina opened the show with ‘Busy Woman’, which was especially fitting – she’s been on the road since 2022 (with the Emails I Can’t Send Tour, The Eras Tour and the Short n’ Sweet Tour) and is releasing her new album Man’s Best Friend in August, just a year after her Grammy-winning, universally acclaimed hit, Short n’ Sweet.

The 17-track setlist took us on a journey through Carpenter’s two most recent albums with a look ahead to her next offering, which is arguably her most eagerly anticipated – and controversial – yet. The crowd (mostly teen girls and their parents, admittedly making me feel old at 28) knew all the words and made sure everyone around them knew it.

Chart-toppers ‘Taste’, ‘Please, Please, Please’ and ‘Manchild’ undoubtedly made fans go wild, whilst an acoustic version of ‘Sharpest Tool’ and ‘Because I Liked a Boy’ later in the show allowed for a change of pace – the lyrics of which felt particularly reflective given the conversations surrounding Carpenter’s upcoming album.

Ever the theatrical performer, Sabrina didn’t let that emotion sit for too long. The show was laced with her signature nod-and-wink interludes and crowd interactions. A “parental discretion” warning blazed across the screen as the final act of the show began.

That alert was related to ‘Bed Chem’, which is known to be one of the more risqué parts of the show. This time, the audience was treated to a special Pride-themed outro that saw Sabrina and two of her dancers recreate that scene from Challengers, before jokingly falling back onto the bed behind closing curtains and receiving rapturous applause from fans. This may have been a playful blink-and-you-miss-it moment, however on the last day of Pride Month, it was revealed that the gay-icon-in-the-making has raised over $1 million for LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health initiatives and animal welfare – all in less than a year.

@gaytimes It’s giving Challengers… Sabrina Carpenter wished London a happy Pride with her performance of ‘Bed Chem’ at BST Hyde Park 🔥 #sabrinacarpenter #bsthydepark #bedchem #pride #sabrinacarpenteredit #sabrina #concerts ♬ original sound – GAY TIMES

And the LGBTQIA+ representation didn’t end there. During ‘Juno’, where Sabrina “arrests” a member of the audience for “being too hot,” Ayo Edebiri and Clairo made a hilarious appearance, recreating Charli xcx’s now-viral ‘Apple’ dance, before being told “that’s a different show” by the songstress, making light of the similarities to a segment on the Brat Tour.

For her penultimate song, Carpenter made her way through the crowd (where she seemed genuinely excited to be amongst her fans, some of whom she even recognised) and onto a moving crane for an emotional rendition of ‘Don’t Smile’.

Sabrina closed the show with a dynamic performance of her biggest hit, ‘Espresso’, which began with the superstar downing a coffee-infused martini and reminding us all just how eagerly we’re awaiting 2025’s song of the summer (please, it’s almost August!). Proving the ‘S’ in ‘BST’ stands for Sabrina, fireworks shot out above the stage as swathes of fans in summer dresses and bows took in the final moments with their main pop girlie.

Without a doubt, Sabrina Carpenter is on her way to becoming an icon. This Disney starlet has evolved into a defining voice of music – one that’s unapologetically her own, deeply self-aware, and above all else, so much fun.

The Short n’ Sweet Tour is back in the US later this year. Find out more and grab your tickets here.

Several LGBTQIA+ artists were honoured at last night’s 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

For this year’s festivities, comedian Trevor Noah led the memorable event, featuring appearances from Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Charli xcx.

Alongside the show’s star-studded roster and heartwarming tributes to those affected by the California wildfires – the evening was filled with an array of LGBTQIA+ winners and showstopping moments.

Emerging rap songstress Doechii took home her first-ever Grammy award, with her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal winning Best Rap Album.

This incredible feat makes her the third female rapper to win the coveted trophy, following Lauryn Hill’s classic 1998 record The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Cardi B’s hit 2018 album Invasion of Privacy.

While accepting the award, the ‘Denial is a River’ singer delivered a powerful speech about her journey as an artist.

“I don’t want to make this long, but this category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won Lauryn Hill, three women have won, Lauryn Hill, Cardi B and Doechii,” she tearfully exclaimed.

“I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I bore my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get. And I have to thank God and I have to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me. I want to thank my label and my engineer, Jada, for everything she did. My fans to the swamp.”

The bisexual superstar also gave an inspiring message to other Black women with dreams of breaking into music.

“I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now and I want to tell you, you can do it,” she said.

“Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tells you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or that you’re not smart enough, or that you’re too dramatic, or you’re too loud. You are exactly who you need to be– to be right where you are – and I am a testimony.”

Chappell Roan, who catapulted to mainstream superstardom last year with her queer anthem ‘Good Luck, Babe,’ earned her first Grammy for Best New Artist.

During her acceptance speech, the ‘Pink Pony Club’ talent thanked her family, friends, and fans before advocating for artists to receive liveable wages and better healthcare from record labels.

“I told myself, if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage and health care, especially to developing artists,” she told the crowd.

“Because I got signed so young, I got signed as a minor, and when I got dropped, I had zero job experience under my belt, and like most people, I had a difficult time finding a job in the pandemic and could not afford health insurance. It was so devastating to feel so committed to my art and feel so betrayed by the system and so dehumanised to not have healthcare.

“And if my label would have prioritised artists’ health I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to. So record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you but do you got us?”

Midway through the show, Gaga debuted her brand new single, ‘Abracadabra’ – and its stunning music video, featuring high-energy choreography and jaw-dropping costumes.

The ‘Disease’ songstress also took home the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for her track with Bruno Mars, ‘Die With A Smile.’

After making her way to the stage, Gaga showcased her dedicated support for the LGBTQIA+ community with a powerful speech.

“I just want to say tonight, trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love,” she exclaimed.

LGBTQIA+ ally and pop princess Charli xcx joined the evening’s first-time Grammy winners club by securing Best Dance Pop Recording, Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package awards.

Taking to Instagram, the ‘Apple’ singer celebrated her incredible feats, writing: “We’ve won 3 Grammys! This is for all of you who’ve been with me through years and years of this never really being a thing for us… I hope I made you proud this year <3 I love you all so much.”

St. Vincent dominated the Alternative and Rock categories, taking home awards for Best Alternative Music Performance for ‘Flea,’ Best Rock Song for ‘Broken Man,’ and Best Alternative Music Album for All Born Screaming.

Lastly, it was a big night for Beyoncé and her critically acclaimed album Cowboy Carter, which nabbed three awards: Best Country Album, Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Album of the Year (finally!).

In addition to extending her run as the most decorated artist in Grammy history, Bey has become the first Black artist to ever win the Best Country Album category and the fourth Black woman to take home the Album of the Year award.

“I just feel very full and very honoured. It’s been many, many years, and I just want to thank the Grammy, every songwriter, every collaborator, every producer, all of the hard work,” Beyoncé told the crowd while accepting her coveted Album of the Year award.

“I want to dedicate this to Miss [Linda] Martell and I hope we just keep pushing forward, opening doors. Good bless y’all thank you so much.”

Other notable winners include Sabrina Carpenter (Best Pop Solo Performance Best Remixed Recording and Best Pop Vocal Album), SZA (Best R&B Song), and Kacey Musgraves (Best Country Song).

Alongside the show’s talented honourees, viewers were treated to incredible performances from Billie Eilish, Doechii, Charli, Chappell, and Janelle Monáe.

The SWEAT tour is coming to Europe for one night only.

Back in September, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan captivated pop culture enthusiasts when they embarked on their critically acclaimed joint tour.

Similar to their solo summer performances, the setlist consisted of tracks from their extensive catalogue – including their critically acclaimed albums Something To Give Each Other and BRAT.

While it received rave reviews during its run, the SWEAT tour only travelled to the US and Canada.

Fortunately, European fans will finally get to experience Charli and Troye’s epic show during the former’s headlining set at Primavera Sound 2025.

The ‘Apple’ singer revealed the exciting news on 20 December, dubbing their exciting reunion, “SWEAT Pt 2.”

“Ok, so I know it’s already been announced that I’m headlining Primavera next year, but I had this idea……… @troyesivan u wanna?” her caption read.

In response, Sivan uploaded his own Instagram post with the same photos and a cheeky caption, agreeing to Charli’s proposition.

“K, here’s the plan..SWEAT reunion HEADLINING @primavera_sound (on my 30th bday)?? Don’t mind if I do @charli_xcx,” he wrote.

Charli and Troye’s exciting announcement was an immediate hit with fans, with many celebrating their upcoming SWEAT reunion on social media.

One person on X/Twitter wrote: “OMFG SWEAT TOUR PRIMAVERAA???? AND I ALREADY HAVE TICKETS.”

Another fan tweeted: SWEAT-MAVERA 2025??? We fucking WON!

A third fan added: “Gay Glasto just got a whole lot gayer!!!!!”

Alongside Charli and Troye, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter will headline Primavera Sound 2025, which will take place in Barcelona, Spain.

The festival will also include performances by FKA Twigs, HAIM, Beach House, Clario, beabadoobee and more.

Charli’s recent announcement arrives seven months after she changed the pop music sphere with her sixth studio album, BRAT.

Upon its release, the record was met with widespread critical acclaim, becoming the 16th highest-rated album of all time on Metacritic and Charli’s first top three entry in the U.S.

Various singles climbed the worldwide charts and earned viral status, particularly ‘360 ‘Guess’ ft Billie Eilish and ‘Apple’, the latter of which spawned a dance craze on TikTok.

The sound, aesthetic and impact of the album led to ‘brat summer a way of life that Charli explained as: “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes.

“Who feels like herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile, does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat.”

Grindr Unwrapped 2024 has arrived, and the findings are incredibly juicy.

Over the last few years, the popular LGBTQIA+ dating app has treated users to its annual year-in-review that details the sex, dating, travel, gaming, and pop culture trends that define queer life.

For the 2024 roundup, the statistics revealed intriguing information about the various sub-groups in the community.

According to the data, the highest percentage of “fem tops” were found in the UK, Ireland, the US, Australia, and Mexico.

The highest percentage of “hung bottoms” were located in France, Canada, Germany, Brazil and Switzerland, with the largest number of sides residing in Singapore, Philippines, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

Rounding out the sex position data – Finland, Austria, Germany, Australia and Hungary were crowned as the countries with the most verse users in 2024.

Grindr, which was founded in Los Angeles and launched in March 2009, also reported that open relationships were most common in South Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Denmark.

In terms of user interaction and app trends, the US was crowned the number one country to enjoy nude photos, while South Africa was listed as the top country to not participate in nude exchanges.

The most popular searched tags were “hung,” “trans,” “bb,” “dom” and “feet”. However, the most prominent tags featured on user profiles were “discreet,” “bi,” “fwb,” “kissing” and “oral.”

There were an average of 9.5 billion taps sent and over 2 billion albums shared among users.

In addition to detailing sex positions and subgroups within the LGBTQIA+ community, the report analysed an array of pop culture moments that captivated the LGBTs in 2024.

Unsurprisingly, Charli XCX and her iconic Brat era had the community in a chokehold, with the UK artist securing the top spot in the Mother of the Year, Ally of the Year, Album of the Year and Tour Of The Year categories.

Charli’s Sweat Tour co-headliner Troye Sivan was named the number one Babygirl of the Year, while Shawn Mendes came in second, Jacob Elordi in third, Lil Nas X in fourth, and The Challengers Boys rounding out the top five.

For Song Of The Year, Chappell Roan’s ‘Good Luck, Babe’ secured the top spot. ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter, ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for your Love)’ by Ariana Grande, ‘Birds of a Feather’ by Billie Eilish and Charli’s ‘360’ were also highlighted in the category.

Lastly, social media influencer and the creator of the ‘demure’ trend, Jools Lebron, was named the number one Best Viral Newcummer of 2024.
